I envisioned this shot well ahead of time, as I fell in love with the beautiful blue reflections of the building on the surface of the water. I knew I needed to head out on a rainy day and that I’d probably have to get wet.
The slabs which make up the flooring in the area next to the modern building in the photo are made of porous limestone, so the surface water soaks in within minutes after it rains leaving a patches of puddles and imperfect reflections. I wanted a smooth even finish to the water’s surface so needed to be there just after a downpour, with enough light and of course the beautiful fox in the correct position. All this meant there was only a small window of opportunity to get the shot I envisioned. On a cold wet winter’s morning all the stars aligned and I was extremely pleased to get the image I had in my mind’s eye.
